Bellfield Infant School: Reception - Year 2

We are a 2 form entry inclusive Community Infant School (60 children in each year group). The Local Authority organises admission on entry to Reception.

Children can start full time Reception the September after their 4th birthday. Example: If your child was born between 1 September 2019 and 31 August 2020, they will be able to start school in September 2024.

Birmingham City Council's School Admissions and Fair Access Service publishes information on its website, informing parents or carers how to start their child at school. However, the responsibility for applying online for a child to start reception class remains solely with parents or carers.

Cut off distance:
2023 -  All applicants offered

2022 - All applicants offered

2021 - All applicants offered

There is no guarantee that the same admission pattern and ‘cut off’ distances will apply for 2024.

Children with an Education Health and Care Plan

Any child with an Education Health and Care Plan/statement of special educational needs is required to be admitted to the school that is named in the statement. This gives such children overall priority for admission to the named school. This is not an oversubscription criterion.

Admission Criteria in the case of over-subscription

Where there are more applicants than there are places available, we will offer places based on the following order of priority:

  1. Looked after or previously looked after children (including previously looked after children from outside of England).
  2. Siblings; brother or sister who will still be in attendance (not Nursery or Day care) in September 2024 at Bellfield Infant or Bellfield Junior School.
  3. Distance (children who live nearest the school measured in a straight line). Within each of these categories, priority is given to those who live nearest the school. Note: Distances are calculated on the basis of a straight-line measurement between the applicant’s home address and the main entrance to the school building.

School Admissions and Fair Access Service make every effort to ensure that the information contained in the ‘Primary Admissions Arrangements 2024’ for each school is up to date and correct. However, for a copy of the school's full and most recent admissions policy and oversubscription criteria, please feel free to visit: Birmingham Local Authority Admissions Arrangements

Bellfield Nursery: September after 3rd Birthday

Admission to our Nursery class is organised by the school. Should your require a place, parents should complete the relevant documentation available in the school office.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: If your child attends our Nursery, a place in Reception class is not guaranteed as you are required to apply to the Local Authority for admission into Reception.
